About us

The "Trofej" Hunting Association was founded and registered in December 2020 by enthusiasts
and lovers of hunting and nature, with the aim of engaging in the breeding, protection and use
of game through sport hunting in accordance with the Hunting Law and other laws and by-laws.
Some of the main goals and tasks of the "Trofej" Hunting Association are: - development and improvement of hunting as an economic and sports and recreational activity, - nature protection and improvement of the environment, - development and improvement of hunting cynology and hunting shooting, - construction and maintenance of hunting facilities, - training and education of professional staff and the development of hunting ethics, - development and improvement of hunting and hunting tourism, After conducting a competitive procedure and signing a contract with the Ministry of Agriculture,
Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Srpska in March 2021, the "Trofej" Hunting
Association will be granted the use of the "Kotor Varoš" hunting ground for a period of 10 years.

Data on the hunting ground "Kotor Varoš" dates back to 1920, when there was a District Office
in Kotor Varoš. After the end of World War II, in 1945, the Kotor Varoš Hunters Association
resumed its work within the then districts. In 1973, when the formation of hunting grounds was
transferred to the Municipal Assemblies by the applicable laws, two hunting grounds were
formed in the territory of the Kotor Varoš municipality: "Kotor Varoš" and "Šiprage".

The hunting ground "Kotor Varoš" is located in the central part of Bosnia and Herzegovina,
in the municipality of Kotor Varoš and belongs to the southwestern part of the Banja Luka region.
It extends in the middle course of the Vrbanja River and belongs to the mountainous region,
surrounded by the mountains Uzlomac to the northeast, Borja to the east, Vlašić to the south and
Čemernica to the west. This hunting ground borders on the northern side with the hunting ground
"Čelinac", on the eastern and southeastern sides with the hunting grounds "Maslovare" and "Šiprage"
and on the southern and southwestern sides with the hunting ground "Kneževo".
Due to its structure, integrity of the surface and configuration of the terrain, it provides good
conditions for breeding and protection of game. The Vrbanja River, which cuts the hunting ground
into two parts, does not constitute a natural obstacle to the movement of game from one part of
the hunting ground to the other.

The total area of the hunting ground is 21,658.00 ha, of which the largest percentage of the hunting
ground area is forests and scrub (about 54%). It is characterized by a very dynamic hilly and
mountainous type of relief, where terrains with milder and more pronounced sharp relief forms
alternate in a relatively short space, which are accompanied by very frequent changes in exposure
and slope of the terrain. All this contributes to a very heterogeneous vegetation structure in small
areas, and the richness of the hydrological network. The altitude of the hunting ground ranges
from 225 to 1272 m, which is why it is considered a hilly hunting ground, while its purpose is sports
and recreational.
